CASJE Research Digest Spotlight
Publication Description

This Spotlight issue of the CASJE Research Digest explores a study on Sephardic & Mizrahi Jews in the United States commissioned by JIMENA.

The report offers a vital exploration of a population that has long been underrepresented or misrepresented in American Jewish communal studies. Drawing on historical analysis and original qualitative fieldwork, the study provides in-depth community portraits of four distinct Sephardic communities while also advancing a broader framework for understanding Sephardic and Mizrahi identity in the U.S. Taken together, the findings challenge dominant paradigms in Jewish research and communal practice and offer important insights for scholars, educators, and community leaders alike.

Through portraits of four Sephardic and Mizrahi communities in the US, the study provides a crucial step, illuminating key themes, questions, and tensions that should be studied in the future.  Learn more >>
